Sideritis cypria

Native to Cyprus.  Relatively large, firm-textured leaves are a soft luminous gray-white.  Forms a mound of foliage about 1' tall.  Striking chartreuse flower stems grow to about 2½' tall and carry pale yellow flowers.

Sideritis cypria is endemic to Cyprus i.e. it's not found anywhere else in the world.  Its native range is restricted to the occupied part of the island along the Pentadaktylos range where grows on rocky cliffs and outcrops in in just seven locations at altitudes between 300 and 600 meters.  Road widening, quarrying and wild fires all threaten the survival of this plant in the wild and it is listed as endangered.
